China Jasmine Silver Dragon Pearls Organic Tea
China Jasmine Silver Dragon Pearls Organic Tea. This very special tea harvest takes place in spring when the buds are strong and powerful. The pickers only pluck the slightly opened, delicate buds.
During production the leaves are rolled by hand, followed by pan drying in a wok-type pan until their moisture content is reduced to 4%. The next stage is scenting, where the nearly dry leaves are blended with fresh jasmine blossoms.
Once the leaves have taken on the jasmine flavour the petals are removed. The process is repeated several times. To finish, the freshly flavoured tea leaves are rolled by hand into their final pearl shape.
The brewed tea produces an invigorating scent and shows a lovely light, finely-mild cup with a very pleasant, subtle jasmine flavour.
The Qingsham tea garden is located in the Chinese province Hunan. The sizeable estate includes 350 acres approved for organic farming. The garden is set in a mountainous landscape with an altitude of around 750m and is part of a peninsula in the middle of an artificial lake. Of the 200 families living in the area, 148 are involved in tea production.
Amount of tea per cup: 1 heaped teaspoon.
Brewing time: 2-3 mins, as long as the tea leaves stay warm they can be infused 3 to 5 times.
