Ashwagandha powder, also known as Winter Cherry or Indian Ginseng powder is made from the root of the Rennet (withania somifera) plant. Ashwagandha powder can be traced back almost 3000 years, and was used as a traditional Indian medicine, promoting physical and mental health.
Ashwagandha powder is packed full of nutritional benefits, being that it contain alkloids, choline, fatty acids, and amino acids. Ashwagandha is also believed to have numerous other health benefits such as helping sufferers of stress and anxiety, as well as promoting good physical and mental health, aiding male libido, and body rejuvenation.
The recommended dosage is 3-6gm a day, or ⅛ teaspoon and slowly building up to ½ a teaspoon, or more. Ashwagandha powder can be added to smoothies, juices, water, muesli, cereal, porridge, yoghurt or even made into a tea.
