Zero Waste

ZERO WASTE MOVEMENT

Simply, Zero Waste is to send nothing to landfill and plastic is the biggest culprit which is why we introduced our 100% plastic free packaging over 12 months ago.

Our aim, in our own small way is to reduce what we waste, we try to reuse as much as we can, send little to be recycled, and compost what we cannot.  It's not about perfection; it's about making better choices.

New shops are opening all the time offering zero waste, we are working with them to help reduce excess packaging, 100% plastic free is the start, others we use plastic containers which rotate between us after the initial outlay the packaging is zero and they last for years. In the last six months we have saved over 18 kilometres of plastic packing tape entering the system by changing back to gummed paper tape. And, yes it does hold our parcels together as we dispatch all over the world and have NEVER had a compliant that the packages have arrived open!

Generally, the movement focuses on reducing waste production as much as possible, many zero waste bloggers and shoppers manage to seriously reduce or eliminate their accumulation. The specifics of going zero waste depends on each individual but main common themes are, composting, recycling and reusing and plastic is off limits.

No one is perfectly zero waste. We're all just doing the best we can. A whole group of people making small changes adds up to a massive impact!
